How set codes work
A Japanese set code such as SV2a or M4 combines the series (SV for Scarlet & Violet, S for Sword & Shield, M for Mega Evolution), the release number, and sometimes a lowercase letter that marks a special set. English cards use a three-letter set code instead, plus a regulation mark letter for tournament play.
