How to check Pokémon card prices
Look up the card's exact name and number on TCGplayer, PriceCharting or eBay's sold listings, and read the price for the same version and condition as yours. Only recent completed sales matter; asking prices are just hopes.
Free tools for checking prices
| Tool | Use it for | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| TCGplayer | Ungraded cards | The largest US marketplace for singles, with a market price based on recent sales. |
| eBay sold listings | Graded and rare versions | Search for the card, then filter by "Sold items". |
| PriceCharting | Comparing raw and graded | Raw and graded prices next to each other, plus price history charts. |
| 130point | True eBay prices | eBay sales including accepted best offers, which eBay itself doesn't show. |
| PSA Auction Prices Realized | PSA slabs | Past sales broken down by grade. |
| Scanner apps | Quick look-ups | Apps like the TCGplayer app and Collectr identify a card from a photo. See our comparison of scanner apps. |
Five mistakes to avoid
- Checking the wrong version. Reverse holo and Master Ball pattern cards have different prices from the standard card.
- Checking the wrong language. Japanese and English cards are separate markets.
- Ignoring condition. Near Mint and Lightly Played can differ by half the price or more, and Damaged is lower still.
- Relying on one sale. One sale can be an outlier, so look at three to five recent ones.
- Leaving out fees. Selling through a marketplace typically costs about 10–16% of the sale price.
Live prices on our site
Each card we stock shows a live US dollar price, and every set page lists its cards in number order with prices alongside. Start with the newest sets, Perfect Order, Chaos Rising, Pitch Black, Ascended Heroes and Phantasmal Flames, or favorites like 151 and Evolving Skies. Use the currency switch at the top of the page to see prices in another currency.
Common questions
What is the most accurate Pokémon card price checker?
TCGplayer's market price for ungraded English cards; eBay sold listings and 130point for graded and rare cards. For anything valuable, compare more than one source.
Why do price guides give different numbers?
They use different sales data. TCGplayer uses its own marketplace, PriceCharting combines several sources and eBay includes auctions. All of them lag behind a fast-moving market.
How fast do Pokémon card prices change?
Popular new sets can change every day for the first few weeks, while older cards change slowly. Check again on the day you buy or sell.
